I'm about to revolutionize your summer.
Say it's hot outside. Say you're sweating. Say the humidity is virtually unbearable. Say you're thirsty for a glass of cold, sweet lemonade.
This summer, I'm giving away the crown jewels: my grandma's lemonade recipe.
She and my grandpa lived in Iowa (where it's freakishly hot and humid) as well as Texas (where it's just freakishly hot), so if anyone knows the secret to cooling off and enjoying the taste while doing it, it was her.
This lemonade is the only kind we ever drank growing up, and my farmer's started asking for a glass when he comes in every day too. Did you hear that? A dairy farmer . . . asking for lemonade . . . over milk.
I'm telling you: It's just that good.
So, step aside, Country Time. Back in the fridge, freshly squeezed lemons. This lemonade is about to be your last first date, er, glass of deliciousness.
Are you ready for this? Here we go: 1 cup sugar + 1 cup lemon juice (the kind out of the bottle) + 6 cups water = gone in moments
Yep. It's just that easy. Now before the heat takes one more ounce of energy out of you, get to the kitchen and mix this bad boy up!
PS Unless you want a cold, delicious glass of milk. Then you should definitely, definitely indulge in that.
Have you heard of Miss Aimee B's Tea Room in St. Charles? They are famous for a old fashion lemonade made with lemons and, wait for it . . . Milk! Weird, right? As a dairy farmer's wife, it is your duty to go there for a long relaxing weekend with your dairy farmer and check it out.
ReplyDeleteWhaaaa? I've actually eaten there but I didn't know to try the lemonade. We're on it!
